Dump the Pump on June 15th!

Topeka Metro Offers Free Rides All Day!

Topeka, Kansas (May 24, 2017) — Topeka Metro is teaming up with transportation systems nationwide to offer free rides on all fixed routes during the twelfth annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Topeka Metro is attempting to set a new Dump the Pump Day ridership record with 6,000 rides given.

“Dump the Pump Day is a great way to introduce someone to public transportation,” said Susan Duffy, General Manager, Topeka Metro. “It is a great time to try riding the bus at no cost, and we want to see some new faces on the buses as we attempt to break the 6,000 ride mark.”

The Dump the Pump campaign is sponsored by Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).  Topeka Metro wants the public to know that riding public transit is an economical way to save money, particularly when gas prices are high. Public transportation doesn’t just help people save money, it also helps communities grow and prosper.

Additionally, public transportation helps to make a community economically prosperous and competitive. For example, for every $1 invested in public transportation, $4 is returned in economic returns.
