Volunteers Ride Free Week of April 11-16 at Topeka Metro
TOPEKA, KANSAS (April 4, 2016) — In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, Topeka Metro will celebrate local volunteers by offering free rides April 11 through April 16, 2016. Volunteers will receive unlimited free rides on the fixed routes and Lift passengers will receive up to two free rides per day.
Volunteers must present a volunteer photo I.D. to the bus operator upon boarding. If a photo I.D. is not available, passengers may present a letter acknowledging their volunteer service along with an alternate photo I.D. upon boarding. The letter must be on company letterhead and signed by a company official.
“We have many dedicated volunteers in our community,” said Susan Duffy, Topeka Metro general manager. “Our city is fortunate to have such committed citizens who volunteer their time and resources. Topeka Metro would like to “give back” to those who may not always receive recognition for their efforts by providing free transportation during National Volunteer Week,” she said.
