OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR
This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer and works with other supervisors to provide first line supervision in the daily operations of public transit service.
Primary Duties:
- Supervises daily bus operations including assisting operators in resolving operational problems and providing street-side service.
- Establish effective professional relationships with subordinates through communication and coaching.
- Supervises operations personnel which includes: conducting performance evaluations; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; and making disciplinary decisions on an as needed basis.
- Provides customer service support to the public and complaint resolution.
- Oversees daily work assignments to ensure adequate coverage of all routes.
- Monitors, creates, and coordinates route detours and special routes.
- Investigates all incidents and accidents.
- Prepares reports as required and administrative elements like payroll and leave authorization and dispatch supervision.
- Serves as a liaison to planning dept. regarding routes and amenities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively, including presentation abilities and professional writing skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective and cooperative working relationship with employees and provide excellent customer service to the general public.
- Ability to make independent judgment based on knowledge of transit operations, labor contract, and company policies.
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and other technology.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL w/ air brake and passenger endorsement.
- Three years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

SECURITY OFFICER
Join Topeka Metro’s team by providing security at the Quincy Street Station Transfer Center to protect the safety of the public, employees, and property. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $22/hour.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years security or law enforcement experience.
- Ability to effectively apply de-escalation techniques and diffuse conflict.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the public of all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
- Familiar and able to apply pertinent federal, state, and local laws to Topeka Metro operations.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Ability to thoroughly recall, describe, and document events accurately.
- Fluent in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and work outdoors in all types of weather and temperature conditions.

PUBLIC TRANSIT BUS OPERATORS

Minimum Qualifications:

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN IV
Join Topeka Metro’s Maintenance Department as a Maintenance Technician IV. The shift for this position is Tuesday-Friday 12:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. and Saturday 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. with an hourly pay rate of $23.33/hour.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform entry level maintenance service work on transit vehicles and facilities.
- Perform minor inspections such as checking/replenishing fluids and tire pressure. Fuel all transit vehicles and maintain daily fuel logs. Run fixed-route buses through bus wash.
- Respond to service calls from bus operators on route.
- Ability to perform facility and grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, snow removal, facility repairs, and painting.
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary for the completion of assigned duties.
- Possess and maintain an inventory of hand tools necessary for the position.
- Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements within six (6) months of hire date. Paid training is provided.
- Steady work history with some basic mechanical experience.
- HS diploma/GED.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST
General Purpose:
- Provide information to the public regarding all transit services by retrieving information from various sources including schedules, software, spreadsheets, and maps.
- Sell bus fare media at the Quincy Street Station and prepare bank deposits.
- Provide responsive phone and radio coverage.
- Enter ride requests accurately for paratransit service and contract providers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Customer oriented with the ability to provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively and courteously with patience to a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to learn and efficiently answer public inquiries regarding routes, schedules, and fares.
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a professional, pleasant, and helpful demeanor towards the public and co-workers.
- Knowledge and familiarity with Topeka streets and landmarks with the ability to read and understand maps.
- Experience using multi-line phone system, computers, Microsoft Office products, and other office technology equipment with the ability to learn additional software and technology as needed.
- Previous experience in customer service and working with the public.
- Knowledge of basic math skills and cash handling techniques.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly desirable.
- HS diploma/GED.
The shift for this full-time position is Mon. – Fri. 9:15 a.m. – 6:15 p.m. with starting pay of $15.45/hour.
