Topeka Metro reinstates bus fares in February/Public Meetings in January for potential service reductions

TOPEKA, KANSAS (December 22, 2020) -- On December 21, 2020, the Topeka Metro board of directors unanimously voted to reinstate all bus fares beginning February 1, 2021. In a second action, the board voted to hold three public meetings to discuss potential service reductions. Both of these actions are in response to changes in ridership and revenues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through January 31, 2021, Topeka Metro bus fares will be waived. On February 1, 2021, passengers will need to begin boarding through the front doors and be required to pay fares. Passengers must have their fare accepted at the farebox or they will not be allowed to ride. Masks and face coverings are still mandatory to ride the bus.

Topeka Metro will have three public meetings at Topeka Metro Quincy Street Station to gather input from the public about potential service reductions.
