Stuff the Bus to benefit Project Topeka!
TOPEKA, Kan. (January 16, 2024) -- Topeka Metro and the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) #1360 are reaching out to the Topeka community to "Stuff the Bus" with canned goods and non-perishable food items as well as cash donations to benefit Project Topeka, the community food drive to defeat hunger.
When: Saturday, February 10th, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Where: Entrance at Fairlawn Dillons – 21st & Fairlawn, 5311 SW 22nd Place
Topeka Metro and ATU members will be at the front entrance at Dillons in Fairlawn Plaza to accept donations which will be loaded on a Topeka Metro bus. Shoppers are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to be distributed by Project Topeka. Cash donations are also welcome. Even one can or non-perishable item helps those in need!
In 2023, the Stuff the Bus project collected 2,500 pounds of food, and $400 in monetary donations, which was a record for this endeavor. Our hope is that we can top that record to help those in need. Directly after the event, ATU members will transport the food to be weighed and pass along any monetary donations. All the food collected is distributed throughout Topeka and Shawnee County. So, come out for a worthy cause and help us STUFF THE BUS!
