Topeka Metro provides rides on Election Day November 3
All fixed routes will be free and Lift passengers get two (2) free rides
TOPEKA, KAN. (October 29, 2026) – National Election Day is less than a week away, and Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority is providing passenger rides at no cost on November 3, 2026. The Election Day promotion offers free rides for voters to get to the polls. All fixed routes will be free and paratransit users are allowed two (2) rides at no cost that day.
Topeka Metro’s General Manager Bob Nugent said, “At Topeka Metro, we believe getting around our community shouldn’t be a barrier to participating in the things that matter. By offering free rides on Election Day, we’re helping make it easier for our neighbors to get to the polls and make their voices heard.”
If a passenger doesn't know where their polling location is, go online to the Shawnee County Election Office's website at https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView. The bus operators are not responsible for knowing a passenger’s voting location, however, anyone who wants to ride on November 3rd can call our customer service ahead of that day to find what bus they need to take. A reminder that Topeka Metro only operates within the city limits of Topeka.
Topeka Metro buses operate from 5:40 a.m. to 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Voting begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Nugent said, “If you vote late in the afternoon, we suggest no later than 5:30 p.m., depending on when you need to be at your return trip destination. Customer Service can help you estimate your trip time. Call 785-783-7000 for assistance.”
